Decree and Declare What You Don't Yet See
BY: Deana Bell, Director, Restored Marriage
Usually, when you are separated or divorced from your spouse, it is much easier to see the bad in your situation rather than the good. Even when you are restored, you will be tempted to see what the enemy wants you to see in your spouse instead of what the Lord sees.
Some time ago, the Lord began convicting me that I need to change my prayers for my husband. Instead of saying, "God, will you…" He wanted me to declare His word over my husband.
Each morning when I wake up, I spend time praying for my family, including my husband. I began to search the Scriptures about the characteristics of a godly man. Little by little, day by day, the Lord would speak a new word to me. I began decreeing and declaring the Lord's Word over my husband instead of asking the Lord to change him.
What I experienced, was another event that I would consider a miracle in my life. As I decreed and declared, I saw my husband change before my very eyes.
You see, when we come into alignment with God's word, the enemy is powerless over our circumstances. Have you been looking for victory in your marriage? Well, you may have just been given the solution to what you have been praying.
Decree and declare.
Stop asking God to fix your spouse, your situation, your children, the other person, or anyone else.
Decree and declare.
Let me give you an example. After this, I want you to spend some time in prayer, asking the Lord to show you what He wants to see in your spouse. Then, search your Bible for Scriptures that proclaim His Word over your situation.
Here is my prayer…
Lord, I decree and declare that my husband, Koji, loves you first, above all things. He loves You, Lord, with all his heart, his soul, and his mind. (Matthew 22:37)
He is a man of prayer, who brings all things to You in prayer. (Philippians 4:6)
My husband is a man of his word. He does what he says he will do and is quick to complete it. (Ecclesiastes 5:4-7; 1 John 2:5)
My husband reads and studies Your word regularly. (Deuteronomy 17:18-20)
My husband puts others before himself. He is not prideful and is quick to repent and turn from his ways when he is wrong. (Philippians 2:3)
He is not prone to anger quickly or to hold a grudge. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)
My husband’s heart is soft toward me and others and he looks to uplift and bless those around him. (Proverbs 17:5-14)
My husband speaks blessings over me and our children. He gets words of knowledge from You and shares them in the right timing. (John 16:13)
My husband seeks first to satisfy the needs of others before himself. (1 Corinthians 10:24)
My husband watches carefully where he puts his eyes and what he allows to influence him. (Luke 11:34)
My husband is careful with his words and thinks before he speaks. (Proverbs 13:3)
My husband is unafraid to share the goodness of the Lord with others. (2 Timothy 1:8)
My husband counts his blessings and meditates on the miracles You have done in his life. (1 Thessalonians 5:18 ; Psalm 119:148)
My husband protects me and our children at all costs. He surrounds and defends all who try to come against us. (Psalm 34:7)
My husband can recite Your Word from memory because You, Lord, have written it on his heart. (Jeremiah 31:33)
My husband dreams of what is to come. He can interpret and decode his dreams according to the Bible and it serves as a way to bless and protect his family. (Acts 2:17)
He is vulnerable in his relationships and seeks to discern and learn from others. My husband is guided by other godly men who pour into him and speak truth and blessing into his life. (Proverbs 1:5; 2 Timothy 2:2)
My husband’s words are not his own, but are Yours, Lord. You see his heart and its meditations are pleasing to You. (Psalm 119:11; Psalm 19:14)
He speaks Truth, no matter the cost, knowing that Your wings will protect him. (Galatians 4:16; Ephesians 4:15)
You have given my husband a sound mind. He does not balk in the face of fear. He is fearless in You, knowing that he will trample on the enemy’s head. (2 Timothy 1:7; Luke 10:19)
Lord, you have blessed the work of my husband’s hands. You have put an impenetrable hedge around us; a hedge against disease, a hedge against demons, a hedge against economic fallout. (Job 1:10)
My husband is a man of one wife, the love of his youth. What You have brought together, no man can separate. (1 Timothy 3:2; Matthew 19:6)
Like Paul and Silas, You, Lord, and You alone have broken the chains off of my husband. Any chain that would hold him down has been broken by the mighty power of Jesus. (Acts 16:25-26)
I decree and declare that Your Spirit is in my husband. He follows Your decrees and is careful to obey Your regulations. (John 14:26; Psalm 119:33)
The Holy Spirit rests upon my husband. He calls Him Friend, walks closely with Him, and discerns His presence throughout the day. (Isaiah 11:2; Romans 12:2)
When my husband lays down at night, he is most proud of how the Spirit worked through him that day. In Jesus’ name. Amen. (John 14:12)
PRAYER OF ACTIVATION TO DECREE AND DECLARE:
Lord, I admit, that I have not sought Your will for my spouse. I have been tempted to see what the enemy wants me to see and not what You see. I repent for that and I turn from my ways. Lord, I want to see my spouse the way You see my spouse. I know that the plans You have for us are for good and not destruction. Help me to see the best in my spouse in all situations. Help me to see Your will for my life. Lord, take me step by step into Your Word to decree and declare what You see in my spouse. Help me to say it every day and believe that it is true, even if the enemy tells me otherwise. I set the foundation of my marriage on You, Lord, the Rock, and not the sand that can easily be swept away. With You, Lord, all things are possible. With you, Lord, my marriage is firm and immoveable. Nothing can separate what You have joined together. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen
